Plums in Port

Serves: 4 cups
Ingredients:
675g/1 1/2 oz lbs plums, halved and stoned
675g/1 1/2 lbs/ 3 cups granulated sugar
350m1/ 1/4 pint/1 1/2 cups ruby port or red wine
2 whole cloves or 1 cinnamon stick
Put the sugar and port or wine into large, deep bowl. Put in the cloves cinnamon stick and cook, uncover, for 4-8 minutes on HIGH, stirring occasionally to help dissolve the sugar. Put in the plums and cover the bowl with cling film/plastic wrap a cook for 5 minutes on HIGH. Reduce the power to MEDIUM at cook a further 5 minutes. Remove the wrap and allow the plums to cool. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
