Microwave Convection Ovens

Two main types of microwave ovens are standard microwave ovens and combination microwave/convection ovens. Convection microwave ovens let you cook with both microwaves and convection (method used by an ordinary oven). They tend to be more expensive and require more energy than conventional microwave ovens but they are able to brown and crisp meats while preserving their juiciness, permit baking, and can speed up cooking time for large meals.

Convection is a means of cooking that involves circulating hot air around foods. It may be used alone or combined with microwave cooking to add speed to the cooking process. This method allows even browning and crisping of foods.

The addition of convection cooking to the microwave oven serves to make the unit much more versatile. These ovens will allow you to microwave, convect, or use a combination of the two. The baking, browning, and roasting these units offer is equal or superior to the traditional radiant oven. Combination cooking offers you superior results in a third of the traditional cooking time.

Convection microwave ovens are higher priced than most microwave ovens. However, they can roast, brown and crisp food like a conventional oven (with temperatures ranging from 200°-450°F) as well as cook food quickly with microwaves. New cooking methods are required with this appliance.

It is possible to cook food with either the convection or microwave method separately or to combine them. A conventional oven still gives the best results for most baking and broiling.

Most convection microwave ovens are available only in the manufacturers larger cavity sizes. These days most are built-in or installed over the range. A variety of colors are available to complement most kitchens.

Commercial Convection Microwave Oven

Sharp R 820 Convection Microwave Oven

The Sharp R-820 Convection Microwave Oven- .9 Cu. Ft. was the world's first convection microwave with 'over and under' grills for superior browning and crisping. That is because the 'double' grills emit radiant heat both over and under food. With double grills, it is easy to brown and crisp a variety of foods with greater-than-ever precision.
