Combination Microwave Convection Oven
A combination microwave convection oven offers both microwave and convection cooking in one unit. The limitations are the price and the size, as they tend to be pricier and larger than the standard microwave oven because of the extra features. The cooking can be done by microwave cooking alone, by convection alone, or by a combination of both. Microwave cooking enables you to do everything a standard microwave oven can. Through convection cooking, you can practically do everything an ordinary oven can do, and yes, as in an ordinary oven, the food will turn brown and crispy.
Using combination microwave convection mode, shortens cooking time for large dishes and preserves nutrients without sacrificing the crispness. The problem with cooking in combination microwave/convection mode is that it places a high load on the household electrical circuit supplying the oven. Operating other appliances on the same circuit and at the same time is not recommended as it may trip the circuit breaker or blow the fuse.
Countertop
These units usually range from subcompact (0.3 cubic foot) models which are suitable for desktops, to full-size (1.8 cubic feet) models for use in large kitchens. The doors on countertop ovens are either side-hinged or bottom hinged. When purchasing a countertop, make sure the location of the oven has sufficient space to put down the dishes after removed from the oven.
Built-in
These units are countertop models, which can be mounted to the underside of a countertop or wall cabinet by using a special bracket accessory. Almost all small microwave ovens can be installed in a wall cavity or a cabinet, and then fitted with an accessory trim kit consisting of colour coordinated decorative molding and ventilation features to create a built-in appearance.
